PURPOSE OF THE DEPARTMENT
Industrial Engineering is a branch of engineering that focuses on the establishment and continuity of integrated systems, which consist of human beings, materials and machines. Industrial engineers combine their particular knowledge and skills in mathematics, natural sciences and social sciences with methods of engineering, analysis and design. They evaluate results and exhibit an interdisciplinary approach in order to use resources such as time, money, material and energy in a more effective way to increase the quality of engineering services. Industrial Engineering, in short is the science of “better” and it will not lose its popularity as long as humanity endeavors to make processes more effective and efficient. Istanbul Rumeli University aims to train the industrial engineers of the future.
DURATION AND CONTENT OF EDUCATION
The Department of Industrial Engineering is an undergraduate program of four years. Graduates are awarded with the degree of “Industrial Engineering Undergraduate” and the title of “Industrial Engineer”.
The use of current resources with minimal costs and maximum productivity is essential in the sectors of production and service. Industrial engineers are offered the following courses so that they can solve informatics, machine and human involved problems. Courses provided include: Basic Engineering Education, Operational Research, Production Systems, Production Planning, Stochastic Modelling, Supply Chain Management, Modelling and Optimization Methods, Management and Organization, Quality Management, Simulation, Work and Time Study, Work Safety, Human Resources Management, Project Management, Entrepreneurship and Feasibility Study and Management Informatics Systems.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE CAREER
Those who prefer the undergraduate program of Industrial Engineering and intend to work as industrial engineers in the sector should have the following skills:
· Analytical thinking and problem solving
· An interest in innovations in the world and an openness to improvement
· Ability to use professional methods such as statistics and operational research methods
· English proficiency
· Knowledge of a programming language(s)
· Be able to use various analytical methods such as statistics, operational research and tabulation
· Acquire international experience through the Erasmus exchange program
